“Between Breaking and Becoming”explores the delicate state between breaking and becoming. The face, partially fractured and restrained, suggests a self that has endured pressure yet refuses to collapse completely. The layered marks and interruptions act as both damage and repair — gestures that conceal, protect, and expose at the same time. There is a tension between vulnerability and resistance, where the subject is neither whole nor entirely lost. Rather than depicting destruction, the work captures the quiet strength of holding on — the unseen effort it takes to remain present when everything feels like it’s falling apart. It is a portrait of survival, not perfection… a moment suspended between what was broken and what is still becoming. Some parts of me survived… even if they don’t look whole.
